Standard Broadband’s FTTH network currently exists in the Ballinafad area and was constructed in 2018. The existing network stops at Allison Ct and Trafalgar Rd N. During the summer and early fall of 2019 our network will be expanded to provide service to the homes in the Silver Creek community.

Ongoing Updates

Sept 29, 2020 – Update

Service is now available to the remaining area of Silver Creek. Earlier this summer we had some trouble with a road crossing on Trafalgar Rd due to existing underground services a number of design changes were required. Those changes took some time to complete and then approvals were needed. Today we are happy to say that things are not completed and service to the homes along the following streets is now available and we are booking installations starting Oct 6, 2020.

Aug 1, 2020 – Update

Installations are now available to all homes that are shown in the green area of our coverage map. Including homes along Side Road 27 and Blue Mountain Pl.

If you have not signed up online already please use our online sign up page to complete your sign up and book and installation.

Homes along Trafalgar Rd and Silver Creek Dr will have service available in about 30 days time. Due to a construction plan change at the intersection of Trafalgar and Side Road 27 there has been a small delay. We do anticipate having that work completed in the next 2-3 week and aim to start installations in 30 days time.

July 15, 2020 – Update

Our crews will be completing the fibre cable installation this week on Side Road 27 and Blue Mountain Pl. Shortly after that work is completed our splicing crew will finalize the connections in the ground level boxes also know as vaults and installations for the area will be available as of July 28th.

July 6, 2020 – Update

Due to some minor delays the fibre along the Hydro poles was not completed as scheduled on June 29th, that work will be done on July 10th and July 13th. Our crews will also complete the fibre installation on Side Road 27 and Blue Mountain Pl the week of July 13th.

Installations will be available as of July 28h for homes along Side Road 27 and Blue Mountain Pl.

June 15, 2020 – Update

Halton Hills Hydro has issued our pole permit and our contractor will begin installation of the cables along the poles on June 29th. Along with that work the installation of fibre optic cable along Side Road 27 and Blue Mountain Pl will also start the week of June 22nd. We anticipate service to be available for July 1st to the following streets.

While initial restoration has been started in the area our crews will continue over the next few weeks to finalize the restoration.

May 29, 2020 – Update

Unfortunately we are still waiting on our permit from Halton Hills Hydro to attached to 13 poles that run between Allison Court and 27 Side Road along Trafalgar Road. As soon as the permit is received we will be able to connect the Silver Creek network to our existing network and start installations.

May 18, 2020 – Update

Construction on our backbone has been completed in the Silver Creek community. Our team is continuing to work in the area to complete initial restoration work.

While construction has been completed we are still waiting on a permit from Halton Hills Hydro to attached to 13 poles that run between Allison Court and 27 Side Road along Trafalgar Road. Due to COVID-19 there have been a number of delays in that process however we anticipate receiving that permit in the next 2 weeks. As soon as the permit is received we will be able to connect the Silver Creek network to our existing network and start installations.

April 24, 2020 – Update

Construction in the Silver Creek area is anticipated to be completed by May 1^st. Fibre optic cable will be pulled through the conduit during the week of May 4^th while we finalize preparation of the backbone network to be ready to service the area. The installation of service is planned to begin during the week of May 18^th. Restoration of construction areas in Silver Creek will begin in the first week of June.

March 13, 2020 – Update

Our construction team is back in the area now that the weather is looking positive again. We will be working to complete our build over the next three weeks and anticipate having service available to customers in Mid-April 2020.

Restoration work will take place in late April or as soon as the weather is warm enough for us to place sod and seed in the areas where work has disrupted the ground.

Feb 21, 2020 – Update

Construction will begin again in the area the week of March 9th, 2020, we anticipate completion by end of March and service availability by Mid April 2020.

Updates will be provided on a weekly basis starting the week of March 9th.

Dec 14, 2019 – Update

Due to weather conditions, our progress has been halted for the next few weeks. We anticipate completion in 2020. Updates will be posted when available and we do apologize that we were unable to complete our build in the 2019 calendar year. That being said we have completed 80% of the build.

Nov 21 2019 – Update

Mother nature has made an early appearance this year causing some delays in construction. However, our team is still hard at work with the aim of completing construction in the Silver Creek area by the end of this year. Installation of service may be delayed until the completion of construction due to limitations on the type of work that can be done while the ground is frozen.

Sept 15 2019 – Update

Our construction team will be getting set up in the Silver Creek area on Monday, September 23rd. Over the next week, you will see work begin and new paint and locate flags placed along with the areas where we are working. These markings will wash off and will not leave a permanent mark on any surface. The markings are used to show our construction team where other underground utilities are placed so that they are not damaged during our construction.

Once construction has begun we will post an updated timeline for service availability by street.

July 15 2019 – Update

Construction is targeted to begin on our new FTTH network around August 2nd 2019. In the next week or two, you will start to see some of our construction equipment moved into the area. Along with the equipment, you will notice that there are some paint and flag markings being placed on the grass and roadways. These are known as locate marks and show our construction crew where existing underground utilities are located. Before we can start construction we require these locates to be completed. The pain marks will wash off and will not leave a permanent mark.

We anticipate construction taking approximately one month and we will scheduling installations as service becomes available to each home. Please make sure to sign up online and our customer service team will contact you to schedule your installation appointment.

June 1 2019 – Update

Standard Broadband is pleased to announce the expansion of our FTTH network into the Silver Creek community. Construction is slated to start in late July 2019.
