Fibre Optic Internet Expansion in Nassagaweya Township!

Standard Broadband’s Fibre To The Home service will soon be available to over 450 rural homes in Milton’s Nassagaweya community. The project will begin in the early spring 2021 and take approximately 18 months to complete.   We are excited to bring much needed Internet to the community!

Service Now Available to Phase 1, visit our construction update page for the latest information on our progress and where service is available now.

Why is Standard Broadband Building Fibre In Your Community?

Standard Broadband has a strong fixed wireless presence in the community providing many homes with service today. In 2017 we built the first Fibre To The Home network in rural Milton serving the hamlets of Brookville and Moffat. This expansion will leverage our already existing backbone and expand service to over 450 homes in the community. Our all-fibre network will provide minimum speeds of 50Mbps / 10Mbps with additional speeds of up to 1Gbps/1Gbps available in the future and all with unlimited data included. Delivering service to our customers using a state-of-the-art fibre optic network ensures growth for the future without the need to replace or re-build any part of the network.

Wireless has worked well to service the community for many years, but with the growing demands for bandwidth a shared access technology like LTE or Fixed Wireless cannot provide the speeds that today’s user require. Standard Broadband’s all Fibre Optic network will easily meet the demands of today and scale to provide faster service in the future. Our minimum fibre service will provide 4X the speed of our top LTE package today and will do so without any price increase.

We look forward to expanding our fibre service and providing a much-needed service to the community for many more years.

How Do We Build Our Fibre Network?

Like any infrastructure project a lot of work and planning goes in to building a Fibre To The Home Network starting from the initial design stage to the activation at the customer’s premises. Many days, weeks and months are spent building the network. The project will be divided into four construction phases and as our project progresses, we will update our construction update page.

Upon completion of each phase customers in that service area will be connected to the network and have service available to them.

Will There Be A Mess During Construction?

During construction our crews will be working in the areas of the Municipal Road Allowance also known as the Municipal Right of Ways (ROW). There will be some disturbance in these areas, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Be assured that our restoration team will return to each area of construction and restore it to the original state. We will re-grade, re-sod/seed and clean up any areas where work has taken place. It is our intention to complete restoration after all work has been completed in an area. All schedules and timelines will be placed on our project construction updates page.

Is There A Connection Fee?

There is a one-time connection fee of $299.99 to have your home connected to the network. This one-time fee includes the following:

  • Onsite Installation
  • Fibre Modem
  • 100M of fibre optic cable from the property line to the house
  • 30M of indoor fibre optic cable from the point of entry to the modem location.
